My single “Why” is coming out in just 16 days! I’m so excited to share the song and our highly anticipated animated music video with you on September 23!
You can now pre-save “Why” on Spotify, which ensures that the song gets added to your library on release day. This helps you find the song more easily, and it helps Spotify see that there’s interest in the song, which helps the algorithm that decides what songs get added to those coveted Spotify playlists. If you could pretty please pre-save the song, that’s a big help to me! (And pre-saves are a big help to independent artists in general, as a rule!)
I’ve been a bit quiet again on social media - first, I was completely engrossed in the task of sewing 36 handkerchiefs, and then all of my free time was spent writing 80+ thank-you notes and stuffing envelopes with rewards for all our contributors in our crowd-funding campaign. We filmed an interview with myself an animator Delaney Beaudoin, hosted by Vanessa Shields; I played my first few in-person gigs since the pandemic began, and I’ve been devouring books and savouring the last days of summer.

I’ve also been finding homes for my 2010 album Darling, Darling; my parents visited me (for the first time since 2019!) this summer, and brought three boxes full of my debut studio album. They’ve been appearing in Free Little Libraries around Windsor-Essex, and they’re also free in my shop (you just have to pay for shipping).
I’m a bit sad that I haven’t taken advantage of the summer to play more shows, but since I have an unvaccinated three-year-old and the Delta variant has arrived in Windsor, I’m back to playing it fairly safe again. I feel like this tweet I recently re-tweeted really captures my feelings about this:

At any rate - I look forward to coming out of my social media summer break to plaster clips of the new music video everywhere, as soon as possible! We are still ironing out the final release date for the music video - we had originally planned on the 30th but are hoping to get it out on the 23rd, the same day as the recording comes out on all major platforms - and we’ll be contacting all our Indiegogo contributors soon with details about our Early Launch Event (held exclusively for those who chipped in to help us fund the video!).
