It's today! "Hungry Love" out now + VINYL PRE-ORDER BEGINS!
Crissi Cochrane
My single “Hungry Love” is officially out now (or will be appearing in a matter of hours) on Spotify, iTunes, Google Play, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, YouTube, Facebook, and everywhere music is streamed or sold. Find it on your favourite platform and like, share, or leave a comment!
After the release of Little Sway, I started experiencing a lot of anxiety on-stage, even though I’d already been performing for ten years. “Hungry Love” was born out of a journalling exercise to try to uncover the root of my anxiety, and explore the reasons why I get on stage (“I don’t know why I do the things I do… I’ve gotta stop, think it through”). I recalled that I had started performing as a way to attract love, but those romances were ultimately unfulfilling (“hungry love didn’t last…”).
Once I became a married woman and stopped spending all my emotional energy navigating unpredictable relationships, performing became less about attracting one person and more about engaging with a whole room full of people, which was a lot more daunting. It was heartbreaking period of adjustment that almost ended my music career, but in the end, I came out realizing that I’m playing music for myself (“I’m alive, so I’ve got to sing”), and the bedrock of my marriage just makes my foundations even stronger (“true love made it right…”).
VINYL PRE-ORDER BEGINS TODAY
Today is the launch of the pre-order campaign for VINYL COPIES OF HEIRLOOM!!
I am insanely excited about this. I’ve always wanted to have my music on vinyl, but I’ve never been able to manage the steep upfront cost of vinyl records, and they’re also very difficult and expensive to ship.
Enter QRATES. They’re a vinyl manufacturer that allows artists to set up pre-order crowd-funding campaigns. As long as I reach my target number of pre-orders within a set time-frame, the vinyl gets made, and the copies are shipped directly to the buyers - effectively taking care of all the hurdles involved in making and delivering vinyl. It’s AMAZING.
I set my price as low as I could, at $21 USD plus shipping, so that anybody who wants one can (hopefully) afford one. Because of this, I won’t be making any money, but this isn’t about money to me. This is about the relationship that exists between a listener and a vinyl record. There’s something almost spiritual about holding it carefully in your hands, reverently setting it on the turn table, and listening with intention, without the distractions of screens. When I have the opportunity to buy music in physical form, I personally won’t buy a CD - I don’t even want one for free (and I’m one of the increasingly few people who still have CD players, but I just don’t want CDs taking up space in my home). But if there’s a vinyl, I’ll pay without a second thought, and display it in my home with pride.
I’ve got to move at least 100 units by March 8, 2020. This is your ONLY chance to get the album on vinyl. I won’t have copies at shows, on my website, or in stores. If you want one (or several), reserve yours as soon as possible! Visit the project page on QRATES and click the blue “Back Now” button.
