Thanks so much to all who joined tonight’s live-stream! I had such a lovely time connecting with you, and sharing some tunes that I don’t play as often. I debuted “One World Or None” on the stream tonight, a tune of mine written a few years ago that I haven’t played in ages, but still really adore. And I especially had fun singing ‘I Heard Love Is Blind”, and testing out my new re-worded Sam Cooke cover which is now called “The Mystic”.

SET LIST:

11:24 - And Still We Move
16:56 - Can We Go Back
20:44 - Brother She’s Gone
25:16 - I Heard Love Is Blind (Amy Winehouse)
32:37 - One World Or None
37:44 - Sweet & Fine
44:25 - Drive All Night
51:40 - Only You & Me
56:38 - The Mystic (Sam Cooke)
1:01:40 - Hungry Love
1:07:32 - The Man I Love (jazz standard)

As of tomorrow, it’ll be four months since my last public performance. It both feels like this has gone on forever, and also, like it’s been no time at all, since it’s hard to really mark the passing of time without events, social gatherings, visits, trips. I’m just really grateful that live-streaming has become such a big part of our routine and our body of work, because without a reason to practice, I never will. So, if we hadn’t started live-streaming, I think I would probably be playing very little music at home, starting to backslide a significant bit in my technical ability, and probably having a minor identity crisis (because who am I, if I don’t play music?). So, deeply, sincerely, I am grateful to every person who watches these streams, even if it’s just for a few seconds, because you are the reason I keep singing, keep honing my skills, and keep carving out time to connect with my heart and soul through music.

I’m pleased to report that, for any of you who happened to catch Mike’s live-stream last weekend (or the debut episode of the Soul City Music Co-op podcast where I re-broadcasted the show) where Adeila cried the entire time and I was barely in the studio at all, that Adeila is now, thankfully, falling asleep on her own again. I ordered a little Bluetooth speaker/colour-changing night light for her bedroom, so she now gets to fall asleep with peaceful music and pretty lights, plus a book or two in her crib. Honestly… that sounds so amazing, I think I should make my bedtime more like hers.

I’ll be taking the audio from tonight’s show (which, unfortunately, does seem to be badly aligned with the video broadcast - possibly because we were recording it on our end and our computer maybe doesn’t like to do so much at once) and putting it into one of my upcoming episodes of the podcast. I’m also hoping to do one with Madeline Doornaert’s latest live-stream very soon! Please subscribe to our YouTube channel so you can find these episodes, as well as cuts of tunes recorded in our streams! I just shared my cover of Macy Gray’s “I Try” from one of my streams back in April.

Crissi Cochrane performs "I Try" (Macy Gray) live from Facebook on April 2, 2020. Catch more live-streams from the artists of the Soul City Music Co-op on Sa...

Okay, that’s it for tonight! Thank you, love you! xo
