Vinyl At My Door!
Crissi Cochrane
Look what turned up in the mail today!!
As soon as we got the album and put it on the turntable, Adeila was clambering onto my lap asking me to dance with her. Mike and I took turns bouncing and singing with her until we collapsed, sweaty and exhausted, for the three-song denouement on the B side (Everything, Heaven, Midnight Wind).
I want to say, once again, thank you to everyone who crowd-funded my vinyl pressing of Heirloom over on Qrates. It feels very surreal to finally be holding my album in my hands, and I couldn’t have done this without all of you who ordered this album alongside me. I feel like we’re all a part of a secret little club together now, and I’m overjoyed to see everyone’s posts on social media as their albums arrive.
And I’m pleased to report that the album just looks and sounds better on vinyl. The colouring and printing of the sleeves looks incredible, so crisp and beautiful. And the sneaky thing about cramming so much music onto a record means that… spoiler alert… the tunes are just a hair faster on vinyl than they are on the digital version. And we actually had wanted to speed them up a few BPM during production, but were unable to find a way to do so without compromising on audio quality (it created a lot of strange artefacts in the vocal). So… the tunes on vinyl are actually the way I wanted them to be. There’s so much more energy and vigour. It’s thrilling.
If you’ve ordered multiple copies, your order might take longer to come in. I ordered about 10 units, and my order is still somewhere around Chicago, but I have faith that I’ll be getting them soon!
I’m planning to put a few copies of the record in my shop, once they do arrive, but they’ll probably be quite expensive, to reflect how limited-edition there are. I have no plans to press this album on vinyl again (it’s just so expensive to pay for upfront, and I can’t imagine doing another crowd-funding campaign for the same record since the first one was already a bit of a nail-biter), so there are verrrry few copies in existence! I’ll just have to hope that the album does well enough that I can one day justify paying for another pressing!
