My deepest thanks to everyone who tuned in - at one point we had over 80 people watching, and by the end of the stream, it had already been seen by more than 1000 different people - and to all who commented, shared, and best of all, donated. We were able to totally blow past our $50 donation goal, which is such a relief in this very complicated time. THANK YOU!

This Thursday, I’ll be performing my second live-stream concert of all jazz music. I’ll be playing my favourite jazz standards and some tunes that I like to re-imagine in jazzy ways. On my list, I have music from Billie Holiday, Sam Cooke, Elvis Presley, Nancy Sinatra, Macy Gray, and Carole King. Don’t miss it!! That’ll be happening over on the Soul City Music Co-op Facebook Page and on the Soul City Music Co-op website this Thursday, April 2, from 9PM - 10PM ET.

Today, I braved the grocery store again, to pick up some things for my in-laws and a couple items for ourselves. It makes me so anxious to go to the stores - this pandemic state is an unforgiving reality to me - but I’m the most low-risk of us, so it’s me that goes. I was the only person in the entire store with a face mask. Last time, I couldn’t get my glasses to stop fogging up, so I had to choose between the glasses or the mask. I think I was also a little embarrassed about the thought of wearing a mask around the store. But I thought about it in the days that followed, and realized that it was foolish of me to risk catching this possibly fatal virus just because I didn’t want to “be embarrassed”.

It was sunny and 17C yesterday. The backyard was full of puddles from the rain the day before. Adeila loved splashing around in her boots, even though they weren’t remotely waterproof and she ended up completely soaked. Rain boots: add to the list of things that I wish we could buy, along with seeds for grass and a vegetable garden. I went around for most of the day in a sun-dress made last summer from a blue bedsheet. I pulled my sewing machine out of the attic, along with the scraps of another dress (this one from a tablecloth) that I’d abandoned last fall when the weather turned cold. The warmer days mean that I’ll soon get to dress my favourite way again, in a sleeveless sundress with an apron. Time to sew more dresses and aprons!

And time to wake up Adeila, who has now been napping too long and won’t go to bed on-time if I don’t get her up now. Thank you for reading. I hope you are well!
